Kfar Saba participated in the Final Conference of the SME4SMARTCITIES project, alongside other partners from Israel, Spain, and Italy. The Final Conference was organized by the Spanish partner, BIC Euronova, at the end of June 2023 and it brought together, in Malaga, all the partners and stakeholders of the SME4SMARTCITIES project. At the conference, concluding the project, the winning start-ups from each partner were presented.

Kfar Saba, in collaboration with Tel Aviv University, presented the project: URBAN OASIS from BIPV ISRAEL. The project won 40,000 Euros in funding from the European Union and will be implemented in Kfar Saba. BIPV's solution is to cool the city by adding shade in the form of a pergola with solar panels. The shed incorporates water mists that will cool the shaded space. This solution was created in collaboration with the Italian company Sit Technology

On behalf of Kfar Saba, Tammy Katsabburg Nabentzl, manager of the sustainability and innovation division, participated in round tables on challenges facing cities in the Mediterranean and working with start-ups. Lihi Koren, the project coordinator, also participated in the Final Conference and project review meeting and the activities led by Kfar Saba.

"Kfar Saba is proud to be one of the most innovative cities in Israel. The SME4SMARTCITIES project is one of the prominent projects that have helped in recent years to reduce the gaps between the small and medium-sized businesses in the city and the authority. These gaps and barriers have often prevented the municipality from reaching innovative solutions and young and successful start-up companies and now we have discovered this sector and also benefit from a modern and advanced innovative pilot that will live in the urban heat island." said Tammy Katsabburg Nabentzl.
