On October 5, 2023, the Mediterraneo Green event took place at Le Serre dei Giardini Margherita in Italy. This gathering was focused on exploring innovative political, social, and economic practices that involved collaboration between public entities (such as municipalities) and private sector players (local businesses and cooperatives). The main goal was to address waste management, production prevention, and waste valorization through circular economy initiatives and cross-border networking, all aimed at achieving a substantial environmental transition.

During the event, three distinct territorial cases from different Italian regions were presented. These cases highlighted the essential conditions for initiating dialogues that activate functional circular economy circuits for local services. For each of these territories, both the municipality and a circular economy company jointly shared their collaborative experiences and their Mediterranean networking endeavors. This event served as a crucial platform for discussions among local administrations, businesses, experts, and civil society entities active in this field.

Additionally, two short films were screened during the meeting. The first film, titled "TERRA MATER" by Kantarama Gahigiri from Rwanda, delved into the repercussions of inflicting trauma upon the Earth's body. It prompted reflection on who ultimately bears the consequences and emphasized the urgency for genuine climate justice. This screening was endorsed by the CLIMA project. The second film, "GREEN WARRIORS: FOREVER CHEMICALS" by Martin Boudot and Manon De Couët from France, chronicled an investigation that led to legislative changes in France regarding the production of Perfluorocarbons (PFCs), notorious as "eternal pollutants" due to their severe harm to human health. This screening was supported by the Med4Waste project.
