Project SOLE invites you to its final event "Let’s not waste energy - Improving the energy efficiency of public buildings and the energy awareness of their users" which will take place in Florence, Italy, on Sept.14th 2023 (9.30 - 13.00 and 14.00 - 16.00 CET) @ the Innovation Center in Lungarno Soderini 21.

The decarbonisation goals for the next few years are as ambitious as urgent to be able to effectively face the ongoing climate crisis: to achieve them, among various possible actions, it is necessary to support the energy requalification of the existing public building stock, while promoting an energy saving culture. Within project SOLE, co-financed by Programme ENI CBC MED, Anci Toscana has led an international partnership in the experimentation of innovative and economic solutions to reduce energy consumption in public buildings in the Mediterranean area.

SOLE now has many success stories and policy recommendations to share.

The Region of Tuscany will soon publish the new ERDF 21-27 calls for energy efficiency and involve Anci Toscana and many other important regional stakeholders to define and sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at identifying and disseminating energy saving actions to mitigate climate change. The final event of the SOLE project is therefore an important chance to facilitate the mainstreaming of the SOLE’s key lessons at regional level and to encourage dialogue between stakeholders to build the energy-efficient public building of tomorrow on solid foundations.

The conference will open with the institutional greetings of Matteo Biffoni, President of Anci Toscana, Monia Monni, Councillor for the Environment of the Region of Tuscany and Barbara Pintus from the Region of Sardegna and the ENI CBC MED Programme’s Managing Authority.

A keynote speech on the energy requalification of public buildings across the Mediterranean will be given by PhD Mohamed Salah Elsobki from Cairo University, Egypt. The SOLE projects' results will then be presented by Fadi Karam and Aida Darghouth Asli from the Joint Technical Secretariat of the ENI CBC MED Programme and Rosa Schina, SOLE’s project Manager for Anci Toscana.

Three videos showing some of the SOLE's energy requalification interventions will be commented by Ahmad Daraneh from the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan, Talal Salem from the Municipality of Jounieh in Lebanon and Joaquin Villar from the Agencia Andaluza de la Energía in Spain. This panel will focus on cost-effective technical solutions for the energy requalification of public buildings.

Three panels featuring relevant regional, national and international stakeholders from 20 different organisations will follow to discuss how to 1) facilitate the energy requalification of public buildings in regulatory and financial terms, 2) promote energy awareness in the workplace through campaigns to engage and empower users and 3) boost the role of rehabilitated public buildings within Renewable Energy Communities' initiatives.

Simone Gheri, Director of Anci Toscana, will share the closing remarks based on the most important findings of the three panels.

Simultaneous interpretation IT-EN and EN-IT will be available on-site.
