ESMES in Tunisia organized a small-scale event to celebrate the closure of the schools contest on sustainable energy behaviours!

On January 17th, 2023, l'Agence Nationale pour la Maîtrise de l'Énergie - ANME, ESMES partner in Tunisia, launched the school contest activities in nine public schools in the governorate of Sousse, in order to raise awareness of sustainable energy behavior and the importance of reducing energy consumption in schools.

The schools selected to take part in the contest were:

  • 3 Colleges;
  • 6 Secondary schools.

On July 8th, 2023, ANME organized the closing ceremony of the regional school contest for energy control and the promotion of renewable energies in educational institutions in the state of Sousse.

Mr. Abdelkader Baccouche, ESMEs project coordinator and Director of energy efficiency in construction at ANME, and Mrs. Leila Ben Sassi, the regional delegate in Sousse, inaugurated the ceremony.

The educational institutions who participated in this competition, designed models for projects in energy control, implemented smart applications, awareness flashes, and awareness campaigns about energy control in the school environment and presented them to the audience.

After the evaluation and voting of the audience, the following institutes and schools were awarded the prizes for this competition:

  •  First Prize: Farhat Hashad Institute in Masaken;
  •  Second Prize: Jamal Abdul-Jalil Bakouda School;
  •  Third prize: Al-Khwarizmi School in Masaken.

The evaluation committee praised the efforts of the students of the schools and the participating educational institutions, as well as the works presented by the other institutions, including Hay Al-Yasmine Enfidha school, Al-Zawia Institute, Abu Al-Qasim Al-Shabi Institute and Hay Al-Riyadh school in Sousse.


At the end of the ceremony, prizes were distributed to the winners and students; the educational institutions were encouraged to further define energy control to support national efforts in this field, as the education sector plays an important role in this regard.
