The students are future professionals involved in energy buildings’ sector: to raise their awareness of the importance of sustainable energy behavior and reduce school energy consumption, the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC) organized a gamification-based contest for five public schools in Lebanon as part of the ESMES project:

  • Shakib Irslan Public School;
  • Barouk Public School;
  • Majadel Public School;
  • Hosh El Omara Public School;
  • Ain Jarfa Public School.

The energy teams, in the schools, with the support of LCEC and in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Education, diagnose energy patterns to improve the behavior of students and school staff.

On June 22 and 23, 2023, all the schools participated at the Rotana-Gefinor Hotel in Beirut for the closure of the contest event! More than 100 students, teachers and representatives of institutions attended the event, together with the team ICU, the project coordinator and the team of LCEC.

Part of the event was dedicated to games dealing with Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE); an exhibition was organized to showcase the paintings made by the students during the visual art contest. Students of each school presented their work done during the contest and what they have learned about energy!

The project coordinator visited 4 schools as part of a monitoring mission, to monitor and track the completed REEE activities and the installation of the weather stations in the schools.

The event was an occasion to share and give visibility to the results of the work carried out by the energy teams with all the other students and teachers.

Congrats to all the schools!
