The Sites and Monuments Association of Cap-Bon (ASM) in Tunisia  has embarked on a great adventure. In the framework of RESMYLE project - Rethinking Employment and Social Integration of Mediterranean Youth through Sustainable Development - the ASM benefited from a sub-grant allocated by the Association of Education Related to the Environment of Hammamet (AERE), a partner of RESMYLE, for the implementation of its project "The path to sustainable success" in partnership with the Association for the Safeguarding of the city of Beni Khalled.

The objective of the project was to promote the social and professional integration of a group of young school dropouts through a curriculum combining 3 groups of complementary activities: environmental awareness and education, awareness of green jobs and support for the emergence of sustainable project ideas.

The project mobilised 12 young people, including 4 girls, who had dropped out of school, but also involved many public institutions and private organisations working in the field of youth integration: vocational training centres, youth associations, youth centres, local authorities, entrepreneurs, etc.

The young people benefited from introductory sessions on environmental protection and sustainable development, guided visits to 9 vocational training centres which enabled them to become more familiar with various trades such as fishing, catering, hotel management, carpentry, mosaics, wood carving, painting and decoration ,etc.

This was followed by coaching and support sessions, both individual and collective, to enable the young people to free their imagination, express their desires and trsut in each other, with the aim of bringing out project ideas and providing a personalised response to each young person.

The project lasted for three months and ended on 21 June 2022. The results are very encouraging:

- The young Ranim followed a training course in the field of catering,

- Haithem joined the military training centre to learn plumbing;

- Ghaith joined the tourism training centre in Nabeul in September;

- Rayane joined the "Demarri" eco-incubator and her participation, with 3 other young people, in the activities of the "TEENS 4 change" project enabled her to acquire skills in the formulation and management of sustainable projects;

- Ismail has finally decided to return to college after dropping out in 2020;

- Souheila is continuing her training to become a sports coach thanks to the small grant she was given...

"So many success stories that comfort us and push us to invest more in youth and to move forward on the path to sustainable success" says Olfa Mahmoud, the project coordinator.
