PPI4MED welcomes its new Egyptian partners who have joined the project. They are the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and the Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC), two important references in the country for research, science and innovation.

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology was established by Presidential Decree No. 2405 of September 1971 as the national body responsible for science and technology in Egypt and was affiliated with the Prime Minister. Today, ASRT is considered a public authority with an independent status and is affiliated to the Minister of State for Scientific Research Affairs, based in Cairo.

The Industrial Modernisation Centre is one of the most important agencies of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and was established by presidential decree in December 2000 to promote a modern, vibrant, competitive and sustainable Egyptian industry.

The aim of the Industrial Modernisation Centre is to be the leading development organisation for the modernisation of industry, contributing to Egypt's sustainable economic growth. The IMC started providing services and developing its portfolio on a demand-driven basis to adapt to the continuous needs and challenges of the industry and has a set of programmes and plans aimed at improving the competitiveness of Egyptian companies.

With these two new partners, PPI4MED consolidates itself as a project of interest in the Mediterranean region, committed to making public procurement of innovation an important figure in the transfer of knowledge and research results in the participating countries: Spain, Tunisia, Italy, Jordan and now, the newly incorporated, Egypt.
