Until the very last day, MEDISS continues to work hard to raise awareness in local communities for the efficient use of water resources and soil.

Awareness Session in Palestine

On 15 February 2023, the fifth project awareness session took place in Jericho/Palestine. The event was attended by the beneficiaries of the projects implemented under the ENI CBC MED programme "MEDISS" and "MEDWAYCAP".

They were joined by other important stakeholders including local and national government institutions and international donors (Municipality of Jericho, Ministry of Agriculture, the Italian and Japanese  Agencies for Development Cooperation  AICS and JICA).

During the workshop, the data, results and recommendations of the soil study and mapping carried out within the MEDISS framework in the Jordan Valley by TIMESIS (an Italian company with expertise in soil science, agronomy and forestry) over the past three years were presented.

The study included field and laboratory surveys and tests. In addition, best practices for soil salinity resistance in the Jordan Valley were demonstrated.
