MED-QUAD in Greece received a monitoring visit from the ENI CBC MED programme

Greece, 31st May 2023 - Dr. Khaled Elsaadany, a Senior Expert in Education, Research, and Innovation of the ENI CBC MED Programme, recently visited Greece to oversee the progress of the MED-QUAD project. During his visit, he had the opportunity to witness the accomplishments of the project in Kilkis firsthand.

Epimorfotiki Kilkis, the Coordinating Partner, along with the International Hellenic University (IHU) as a partner, presented the interim outcomes of the project and unveiled the strategic plan for further development. Dr. Elsaadany, accompanied by representatives from the Coordinating Partner, explored two significant initiatives known as the "Smart Water Use Applications" (SWUAP) and "Applied Research for the Exploitation of Cultural Heritage" (ARCHEO). These initiatives are being implemented at the IHU department and the Cave of Kilkis, respectively, serving as "Living Laboratories."

Moreover, the visit included a presentation showcasing the state-of-the-art technological equipment at the facilities of the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Kilkis, as well as the university.

Dr. Elsaadany's visit to Greece and his evaluation of the MED-QUAD project underscore the commitment of the ENI CBC MED Programme to promoting education, research, and innovation in the region. The progress made so far and the upcoming actions demonstrate the project's dedication to fostering sustainable solutions and leveraging cutting-edge technology for the benefit of local communities.

The representatives of Epimorfotiki Kilkis (Coordinating Partner) and the International Hellenic University (partner) presented the results of the project and the plan for the remaining actions. A tour was conducted by the envoy of the Joint Technical Secretariat to the "Smart Water Use Applications" and "Applied Research for the Exploitation of Cultural Heritage" (ARCHEO) initiatives operating at the IHU department and the Cave of Kilkis. Additionally, a presentation of modern technological equipment was held at the facilities of Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Kilkis and the university.

The special technological equipment was procured by the Greek partners with EU funding in the framework of the ENI CBC MED program to improve water quality and conservation in the Municipality of Kilkis and highlight cultural heritage.
