Once upon a time at a village coffeeshop some young locals were discussing ways to attract foreign investors in the hope for new jobs & a better life.

A honeybee flew & disturbed their discussion. The bee sat by a window and spoke loud for all to listen. “Why depend on others for a better future? Pair with me, process my products into treasures to make a living and turn your village a paradise to live into and share with others. Both of us depend on these for our survival so let’s work together.”

This is how our sweet story began. 

It's been an exciting journey for all of us involved in the MedBEESinessHubs project, which lasted 26 months.

It has proved to NOT just be another project. 

It gave us the opportunity to experience first-hand the enthusiasm of many young and not-so-young people living in the regions of Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon and Palestine "stubborn" enough to make their living in deprived rural communities; the Bee Economy concept has helped them in this direction.

We are happy and proud that the MedBEESinessHubs project managed to:

✅ form the Mediterranean hub of Bee enterprises, consisting of five regional Bee Economy clusters;

✅ equip local communities with the necessary knowledge and skills in meticulously processing and crafting a range honeybee products;

✅ finance the setting-up and upgrading of Bee enterprises;

✅ educate children, adults, policy-makers, on the importance of the Bee.

Working hand-in-hand with the Bee makes sense; for better employment opportunities in rural regions, for the support of deprived local communities, for the sustainable development of rural areas, for the preservation and protection of one of the most important pollinators.
