MedBEESinessHubs celebrated World Bee Day in the bee-village of Ora in Cyprus on Sunday 21 May 2023, in collaboration with the Pancyprian Beekeepers Association.

The Bee Festival was inaugurated  the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Mr. Petros Xenofontos and the Commissioner for the Environment Mrs. Maria Panayiotou, while it was attended by more than 700 visitors.

Artisanal salt-making and salinas can be considered part of the Mediterranean cultural and natural heritage. However, their sustainable development faces many obstacles today. In this sense, branding can be a powerful instrument to enhance their visibility, increase their market share and promote ecological management practices.

The American University of Beirut (AUB), in collaboration with IRIDRA, project partners, recently hosted a series of events and workshops aimed at promoting nature-based solutions (NBSs) for sustainable water management (SWM). Two notable events were the School Camps on Green Wall Applications for greywater reuse and the two-day Technical Training on Nature-Based Solutions for Non-Conventional Water (NCW) treatment.

The Institute for University Cooperation (lCU), Lead Beneficiary of ESMES project, together with the Alcamo Municipality, Italian partner of the project, organized its final international event entitled "The journey of schools in the energy-saving practices", on the 23rd of May 2023 in Alcamo, Sicily, Italy.

Our colleague Achilleas Kalogiannis from the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), Greek partner of CEOMED, attended the 4th conference on Bioresource Technology for Bioenergy, Bioproducts & Environmental Sustainability (BIORESTEC) 2023 in Italy. This interesting 4-day event was an opportunity for him to present two posters named: "Assessment of the biochemical methane potential of fruit and vegetable waste from wholesale markets in batch as well as continuously operated reactors" and "Local perceptions of waste management system in the open markets of Amman

Some months ago, five tourism companies in Catalonia obtained a grant form RESTART MED! project to promote their sustainable activities. These companies were: Turismo Vivencial, Riu a l’Ebre, Envall Cooperativa, La Manreana and Gymkana Turística.

At the end of April 2023, the Centre of Biotechnology of Sfax, Tunisian partner of CEOMED, organised the final event of the project, showing the pilot implemented and the promising results of their research to enhance the potential of biowaste and turn it into a useful resource such as fertilizer or even the production of biomethane through anaerobic digestion.

On the 23rd of May, the Med4Waste project brought together more than 150 participants from 25 countries from across the Mediterranean region and beyond, to address the challenges and shared solutions regarding urban organic waste management and discuss the ways towards more resilient agricultural systems in the Mediterranean region (
