On the 1st of February 2023, the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras, partner of SEACAP4SDG project, organized a local training in in collaboration with the Municipality of Aigialeia, selected as beneficiary of the support mechanism set up by the project in Greece, and the MES Energy S.A. company selected as external entity to assist the municipality in the implementation of the actions planned.
The Municipality of Aigialeia is located in the Region of Western Greece (Achaia) and the energy sector in this area is an important part of the local economy and infrastructure. In fact, the Greek municipality has one of the most recent baseline, among other municipalities, since the SEAP submitted in Convert of Mayors platform in 2016. One of the key strategies that the municipality has adopted is to improve energy efficiency in buildings, which is a significant source of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Improving energy efficiency in buildings is an important part of the Municipality of Aigialeia's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable development.

The training was aimed mainly at departments of public bodies, technicians and engineers dealing with the energy management of buildings, and decision-makers and policy-makers. It aimed to increase learners' building energy performance by giving them the knowledge and proficiency to use advanced tools to create energy action plans.

During the session, University of Patras and the MES Energy S.A. representatives focused on the planning and implementation of energy efficiency measures based on the capitalization toolkit proposed by SEACAP4SDG project. After reviewing the available tools from the project Toolkit, the Municipality selected the IMPULSE (Interreg MED 2014-2020) tools to conduct pilot actions on  Municipal buildings which are of priority for energy upgrading projects.

The best option for the Municipality is to use the IMPULSE (Interreg MED 2014-2020) tools for demonstrating SEAP to SECAP transition, also in line with the ongoing framework (refer to L.4843/2021) regarding the development of energy efficiency action plan for municipal-buildings’ stock.
