RESMYLE partner, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) received their two eco-volunteers Badre from France and Rania from Tunisia to conduct an energy audit and propose energy efficiency strategies for a community café in the city of Irbid, Jordan.

The ecomission aimed to introduce the young volunteers to energy auditing principles, energy analysis, and 3D digital simulation tools that are used in energy simulation. Specifically, the two volunteers were trained to use DesignBuilder software, Revit 3D simulation software, thermal imaging camera, and light meter measures. All these tools are necessary to examine the energy performance of any space. The volunteers also completed a number of filed visits to an engineering firm that practices sustainable design and construction principles, and a solar energy farm

After the training, the Badre and Rania worked on the energy audit. The energy audit process included extensive field survey of the cafe, an inventory of electronic equipment in the cage, modelling the café physical space, analyzing the energy consumption of the café based on the electronic equipment and user behavior, conduct interviews with the café owners, and propose recommendations to reduce the energy consumption in the café.

On July 18th, the volunteers presented their energy audit report to the RESMYLE team and energy auditing trainers and officially completed their eco-volunteering mission. Follow the link to find out more about their energy audit results: https://shorturl.at/ipxQW

The ecomissions are part of RESMYLE project - Rethinking employment and social inclusion of Mediterranean youth through sustainable development - funded by the European Union's ENI CBC MED programme.
