PPI4MED in Tunisia, represented by the National Agency for the Promotion of  Scientific Research (ANPR), organised a three-day training course on public procurement of innovation and technology transfer as part of the PPI4MED project.

This training course, which took place from 26-28 July 2023, provided researchers and project partners with key information on the financial, legal, and technical aspects of public procurement of innovation and technology transfer.

Three experienced trainers led this training session. Mr Najemddine Boukhari shared his expertise in the financial field, Mr Mohamed Anwer Abdel shared his knowledge of public procurement techniques and Mr M shared his legal knowledge. The participants could exchange views with the various trainers and ask any questions that came to their mind.

The trainers raised several important points during the course, such as the legislative obstacles that can prevent the public procurement of innovation, the financial aspects of the contract and the intellectual property rights of the innovation patent. They also stressed the importance of fostering strategic economic sectors through the procurement of innovation.

Public procurement of innovation is a key process that allows public agencies to acquire innovative solutions to meet the needs of citizens better. Public procurement of innovation can also stimulate innovation, encourage competition, and help reduce costs.
