The Jordanian partner of PPI4MED, The National Center for Research and Development (NCRD) met representatives from 4 public institutions to talk about the Living lab activities in the project “Technological transfer and commercialization of public research results through PPI in the Mediterranean region, PPI4MED”.

These meetings took place in Amman from August to October 2022 and were attended by 20 representatives from 4 governmental institutions (Ministry of Higher Education – Scientific Research & Innovation Support fund, Amman Chamber of Industry, National Agriculture Research center, and the Ministry of transportation).

Engineer Maha Al-Aqra, PPI4MED project coordinator for Jordan, from the NCRD, presented the project and addressed the mechanism of participation in the Living Lab by signing a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), and the opportunities available to different institutions to benefit from the project capacity building program, that will be launched in February 2023 and the implementation of the pilot phases starting from January 2023.

She also encouraged the participants to join the online brainstorming precompetitive analysis sessions and discussions organized by NCRD for different sectors of health, energy, transportation, agriculture, and water from September 2022 to November 2022.

The results of these online sessions will help in drafting the final report about the scientific research outputs, the pool of patents, the public sector needs, and the potential of matching available patents, products co-designed with private SMEs that could result in spin-offs, and the implementation of the public procurement innovation Pilots in the country.
