In line with MoreThanAJob activities for supporting the collaboration among Social and Solidarity Economy and Public Authority stakeholders, Greece has selected 2 proposals that will be sub-granted. Both projects share the public-private cooperation and partnership as added value for the development and delivery of welfare services promoting the social and labour inclusion of vulnerable people.

The project has been designed to respond to the socio-economic phenomenon of unemployment, taking into account current trends in the labour market, taking full advantage of the possibilities that technology offers.

Project objectives and target groups

EdAct is built on the basis of an educational website offering educational material, which will be provided free of charge to its beneficiaries. The material is designed to help young people from vulnerable groups (e.g., women, unemployed, uneducated, migrants) with the ultimate goal of their (re-)integration into the labour market and for more social cohesion.

In recent years, an increase of unemployment rates has been recorded in Greece, especially under the light of the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on this problem, it is necessary for educational institutions to prepare their students to have employability skills alongside with technical skills. EdAct develops smart skills, an important part of the puzzle to address the complexity of the unemployment challenge.

More specifically, EdAct features the development of educational material (containing courses, videos, evaluation tests in the form of electronic games, updated literature, scientific research and articles) in areas of the labour market where there is a gap between skills needs and demands. The material will cover both soft and hard skills, based on recent research and market analysis. The soft skills courses will be about communication, creativity and emotional intelligence. As for the hard skills, these are social and digital media management, data analysis/problem solving, and search engine optimization (SEO). Furthermore, during specific trainings, the learner will have the opportunity to be linked with a renowned Public Administration employee with whom he/she will discuss about the acquired knowledge of the seminar.

Public-private cooperation

EdAct fosters public-private cooperation in line with the MoreThanAJob framework. This will be highlighted by the signing of a Memorndum of Understanding (MoU) with the Drama Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a local organization of businesses and companies in Northern Greece with the intention to develop and further the interests of local companies and businesses in Greece. Many businesses are international operating companies with offices in Greece. Members of a Chamber of Commerce are usually international and local operating companies, such as lawyers, property developers, tourism companies, airlines, manufacturing companies, import and export businesses, banks, finance companies, legal advisors, IT and electronics manufacturers,etc. Chambers of Commerce main activities are, among others, safeguarding business interests and sharing business experiences and business interests, contact with governments, civil society, local media and the press and organizing trade shows and events.
