WWF Oasis of Torre Guaceto is a 12 Km2 diamond on the Adriatic coast of Puglia, just a few Kms north of Brindisi. This is a must stop 2-3 day see on your Apulian adventure trip that gives you the opportunity to experience breathtaking terrestrial and marine biodiversity. This site has a 3.000 years old historic culture and a wide range of adventure activities: form birdwatching to sea sports, horseback-riding to hiking, trekking and cycling.

But let’s take it step by step. The Natural Reserve of Torre Guaceto includes around  1.200 hectares of both terrestrial and marine reserves. The terrestrial reserves offers a condensed biodiversity: lush Mediterranean bushes, the forest of holm oaks and the centuries-old cuddly juniper. Here visitors can also discover organic production ranging from the vineyard, to the olive groves of extra virgin olive oil at the Oro del Parco, up to the rows of tomato Fiaschetto.

At the transition wet zone to the marine reserve, you can enjoy the beaches and a marshy area, which is a perfect spot for a relaxing bird watching time. The marine reserve also encompasses five small islands close to the coast. You cannot miss this destination if you love snorkeling or diving.

A few years ago, the reserve launched a sustainable fishing program involving local SMEs, showing again that a protected area can be habitable. It also allows visitors to take part in anthropological activities. At fascinating Aragonese tower, you can discover an archeological site and a very technological visit center complete this incredible site.

For all these reasons, WWF Oasis of Torre Guaceto is a diamond on the Apulian adriatic coast and a model ecosystem model for sustainable tourism.
