MED-QUAD in Greece organises a tour to share its results in promoting civic universities

The International Hellenic University (IHU) partner of the MED-QUAD project from Greece, in collaboration with the Epimorfotiki Kilkis sm LLC (Coordinator of the project), will hold a series of informational activities on the course of the European project and especially the results that have been created and can be used by the contributors of the Quadruple Helix model, i.e. universities, enterprises, government and society - both in Greece and abroad. The informative actions will be "open" to the public, and the MED-QUAD "tour" will start around the middle of September.

Technology is evolving rapidly, and innovative tools and services are being created, significantly determining the degree of economic development and competitiveness. Small businesses and management bodies in many regions of the Mediterranean need to gain the appropriate skills for innovation and growth. For this reason, seven partners from 6 Mediterranean countries (Greece, Italy, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Tunisia) joined forces within the MED-QUAD project. In addition to IHU and Epimorfotiki Kilkis, participates in the project, representatives from the universities:

§  University of l'Aquila (L'Aquila-Italy),

§  Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport- AASTMT (Alexandria-Egypt)

§  Al-Balqa' Applied University – BAU (Salt - Jordan),

§  University of Sousse (Sousse-Tunisia)

§  Palestine Polytechnic University–PPU (Hebron-Palestine)

With the approval of the MED-QUAD project in the field of Innovation by the Eni CBC MED Programme, the partners implemented essential actions in their countries with the funding of the European Union. In Greece, as in the other participating countries, two pilot "living laboratories" were created for the "Smart Water Use Applications (SWUAP) Living Lab" and the "Applied Research for the Utilization of Cultural Heritage" (ARCHEO)" through which the research actions at the level of transnational cooperation have already started, as well as innovative efforts to highlight the cultural heritage, with the use of digital imaging and special tools. The laboratories were equipped with modern and specialized technological equipment (e.g. MATTERPORT photogrammetric camera, 3D scanner, special machines for water quality control, etc.). The project partners initiated joint interdisciplinary research between universities and SMEs, trained professionals in entrepreneurship, created innovative services and products and strengthened the "social aware university" role by creating "City Development Groups". One of the project's achievements is to operate the university with a social sensitivity for the citizens and to act not just in the city but for the town, strengthening the cooperation with the local bodies and the society.

The above results of the project will give the opportunity to get to know the members of the educational community, business representatives, decision-makers and representatives of local organizations and all citizens during the local actions. IHU and Epimorfotiki Kilkis invite all interested parties to a wholly informative and exciting briefing, thus offering the possibility to create new ideas to continue the impact of MED-QUAD at the local and European level, strengthening cooperation and networking of persons and institutions.

The informative local actions will take place in the Greek cities:
