MAIA-TAQA in Egypt: Check all the details you need to know about the Innovation one-stop-shop launch event!

The Innovation one-stop-shop (IOSS) is an entity whose scope is to orient, support, manage incentives, aggregate, and promote innovation for business, by capitalizing and exporting  the results and experience gained from the work developed in the three countries involved in MAIA-TAQA project.

A luanching event was organized by The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in cooperation with Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations on September 25, 2022.

Speakers covered the importance of Renewable Energy (RE) and how Mediterranean countries were shifting towards RE industry. Guest speakers Prof. Alaa Abd El Bary - AASTMT Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Affairs whom highlights the importance of launching such center to serve the renewable energy, Mr. Ahmed Hassan – Deputy of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and President of Alexandria Sporting Club, as he stated that the Chamber of Alexandria was the first chamber working with solar energy at the MENA region. Prof. Sara El Gazzar – Dean of College of International Transport and Logistics, whom stated the benefit of having center serves multiple sectors at business and industry in field of renewable energy.

Keynote speakers whom covered technical information about IOSS center, its main objectives and how it serves MAIA-TAQA project:

-           Dr Sandra Haddad - Vice dean College of International and Logistics – AASTMT MAIA-TAQA project coordinator

-           Prof. Moustafa Abdel Gelil - Head of Energy Research Unit AASTMT

-           Dr Alaa Ezz - Secretary General of the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations - CEEBA

-           Prof Sobki - Senior Technical Expert of the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations - CEEBA

The idea of IOSS emerged due to lack of such centers aiming at providing start-ups and SMEs with the knowledge, technical assistance, consultancy, and networking opportunities required to run a successful innovative renewable energy business in Egypt.

The number of attendees reached 100 from different sectors, as follows:

-           Large companies specialized in renewable energy,

-           Owners of SMEs involved in the RE sector

-           AASTMT students and graduates.

-           Mechanical and electrical consultant engineers.

-           Solar energy instructors.

-           Group business analysts and strategic planning

-           Engineers syndicate representative.

In addition to college of International Transport and Logistics staff member and CEEBA representatives.

All guests were invited to have a tour at the IOSS center and get a close view on its services and the solar system working at AASTMT campus.
