The Clima-Med project was launched in June 2018 and its aim is to support the transition of 8 partner countries (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia) in the Southern Neighbourhood towards sustainable, low-carbon and climate-resilient development. They provide technical assistance to support the formulation and implementation of local Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAPs), which will lead to defining concrete actions implemented by local authorities in the Southern Neighbourhood.

As part of SEACAP development activities a new series of workshops were held for municipalities in the 8 beneficiary countries. In this frame, on 20th June 2023 took place the workshop “Developing the SEACAP Support Mechanism (SSM) in Lebanon” organized by Clima-Med project. The objective of the SSM is to assist effectively cities and its building up. The participants of the meeting were majors and presidents of local authorities, NGOs and from the Lebanese University.

Our partner Municipality of Moukhtara, as participant of the event, could share experiences, insights and best practices to guide future actions and partnerships. Also, he showed his commitment to implement the SEACAPs, which were developed for their cities with the support of Clima-Med. You can check here the SEACAP for Municipality of Moukhtara.

Finally, the participants agreed the governance set-up of the SEACAP Support Mechanism (SSM) as an entity that municipalities will lead.
