On May 8th 2023, the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA), one of the two Egyptian partners of the SOLE project, had the unique opportunity to engage young kids at the Deutsche Schule der Borromäerinnen Alexandria in fun activities aimed at educating them about the significance of energy efficiency, as part of the ACT GREEN campaign. The event aimed to inspire these young minds to become energy efficiency ambassadors by making small changes in their homes and school: by empowering them with information and practical tips, the young participants gained the confidence to spread awareness among their peers, families, and communities

The event kicked off with an engaging presentation highlighting the importance of energy efficiency in today's world. The students were introduced to the concept of energy conservation, its environmental impact, and the benefits it brings to their daily lives. Through interactive activities including fun experiments, a scavenger hunt, and a game of charades, the 5th graders were encouraged to actively participate and learn about sustainable energy practices. To recognize their efforts, the winners of the various games were awarded certificates of environmental heroism, further motivating them to continue their energy-saving journey.

One of the highlights of the event was a hands-on workshop where students learned about energy-efficient appliances and lighting solutions. They were shown practical examples, such as using aluminum foil and cardboard to create an oven for making a delicious dessert of s'mores. The students were excited to showcase their newfound knowledge and made pledges to implement energy-efficient changes both at home and in school.

To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, the event organizers extended their efforts to engage first-graders as well. The younger students were provided with energy efficiency-themed coloring books, allowing them to explore the concept in a creative and interactive way. Additionally, colorful ACT GREEN posters promoting energy efficiency and encouraging behavior changes are now prominently displayed in the school hallways. These eye-catching visuals will serve as constant reminders for the students to adopt energy-saving habits and make a positive impact on the environment.

Through their newfound understanding, these young ambassadors have the power to make a difference and inspire others to adopt energy-efficient practices. Such initiatives are crucial for building a sustainable future and ensuring a healthy planet for generations to come. By organizing events like this, we take a step closer to creating a world where energy efficiency is a way of life. The ENI CBC MED Programme and its projects play a vital role in promoting such initiatives and supporting organizations in their efforts to educate and empower young minds.
