INTERNISA in Palestine meets with the Palestinian Ministry of Labour to cooperate

ActionAid Palestine (AAP), INTERNISA partner in Palestine, held a meeting on30th June 2021 with the Palestinian Ministry of Labour to present the project, which is a network of synergies to increase the number of digitally skilled women employed in the Middle East territories via matching demand and supply in the labour market. The manager of “INTERNISA” project implemented by AAP, Ms Laila Duaibes met with the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary and spokesperson, Rami Mahdawi.

During the meeting, Ms. Duaibes briefed the ministry about the goals and impacts of the project on women and the community. She highlighted the fact that the strategic goals of the project are in line with the goals of the strategies of the Ministry of Labour in sectors of labour 2021-2023 and employment 2021-2025, which seek to bridge the gender digital gap and provide women with marketable digital skills. They also aim to prepare professional and qualified workers, according to the needs of the labour market. The project will increase the efficiency and relevance of education and vocational training to the needs of labour markets by defining the digital skills that could be used in the sectors of tourism, textile, financial services and agri-food.

Duaibes highlighted that the project will increase the rate of women's participation in the labour market by equipping them with the necessary tools for acquiring the digital skills needed. This goal complies with the national employment strategy of 2021 -2025 which focuses on strengthening the governance of the labour market and developing policies and programs of an active labour market.  The relevancy of those policies and programs with each other will be promoted. The project seeks to instigate the development of a mechanism matching labour supply and demand in the labour market.
