DECOST participates in an awareness campaign on sustainable tourism and shows the importance of the Circular Economy and Composting

Representatives from the University of Patras, project partner in the DECOST project, participated in the awareness raising campaign on sustainable tourism in Aigialeia organized at the Multicenter Conference Center of Aigio. The event was organized by the Municipality of Aigaileia in Greece within the framework of the transnational project F.A.M.E. Road (FOOD ART MOBILITY ENERGY - The ROAD to Country Experience) that is funded under Interreg VA Greece-Italy 2014-2020 Programme.

At the event, Ms Panagiota Saranti, Civil Engineer MSc and Researcher at the University of Patras, gave a presentation called “Sustainable Tourism and Circular Economy: The contribution of composting through the DECOST project”, where she communicated the importance of circular economy in sustainable tourism and showcased the achievements of the DECOST project and how they can be implemented in the region focusing on the tourism sector.

The purpose of the event was to inform the local community about green and blue tourism, but also about the ways in which sustainable tourism development can be achieved in the region.
