CLUSTER4GREEN organized a Training Workshop on Development of ECO Business Models

Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) organized a training workshop on May 15th-  16th  2023 , titled  “Development of Business Models based on Sustainable Development Criteria “ within the ENI CBC MED European Project CLUSTER4GREEN. The training workshop that last for two days explained and discussed the training plan and methodology , circular economy concepts and practices, tools of ECO Business Development Models (EMBRACE Tool) in addition to the upcoming activities to develop the capacity of (5) SMEs  to be selected as cases to be dissiminated  for development of ECO business models.The workshop was attended by (40) participants among them SMEs/ members of ACI in addition to national stakeholders / members of the national network joined by ministries/ public institutions and  NGOs .   

The first day of the workshop started with an opening session at which Eng. Fadel Labadi  – ACI Project Local Manager & Manager of Industrial Development Department delivered key note remarks that introduced the project objectives, outcomes, main phases and plans. Then Eng. Labadi explained what has been accomplished during the last few months after launching the Cluster4Green Project during the months of November- December year 2022 , mainly he highlighted  about the  Train of Trainers (TOT) attended by ACI staff and took place in Rome during first week February, 2023, review  and consultation  of the national sustainable investment framework  in cooperation with local assigned consultant who met (18) stakeholders , launching a call for applications for SMEs and scoring of the applications using a rating methodology that benefited from the Edile investment impact rating tool. 

Then ACI staff delivered the training  sessions of the Workshop , where Eng. Rose Smadi – Head of Quality & Environment Section/ Industrial Development Department  introduced the methodology of  training and boosting program, Mr. Amin Al Asoufi – Manager of the Economic Research and Studies Department delivered a presentation about circular economy in general and highlighted several examples of circular products. Afterwards, Eng. Smadi delivered a presentation that focused on raising awareness about the urgency and necessity of transitioning to the circular economy and providing effective tools to tackle this challenge. Then Eng. Smadi explained about the educational contents related to the environmental challenges, schools of thoughts, sustainable strategies and main tools that empower the stakeholders and SMEs to make a move forward in transitioning to the  Circular Economy.

On the second day, Eng. Bashar Qteashat – Head of the Advisory and Technical Support Section at Industrial Development Department and Eng. Rose Smadi delivered training sessions on the Tools of ECO business development Models (EMBRACE Tools) and how to move towards  generation of a Circular Business Model (ECO CANVAS prototypes) and their action plan for a real transformation.

Finally, during the last session, Eng. Rose presented about the upcoming SMEs capacity development plan and activities, type of technical support , schedule of training sessions, selection criteria and commitments,  in addition to the applications that are needed to be submitted by SMEs.    

Discussion , question and answers sessions took place at which several issues and views were exchanged among participants and presenters.
