BERLIN in the spotlight of energy transition

In the context of the international instability and the multiple climate change challenges we are facing, energy security is dominant in all formal and informal discussions. In fact, humanity is at a point where crucial technological advancements need to take place in order to confront these challenges.

BERLIN project aims to address the energy insecurity and promote the wider adoption of distributed energy generation in Mediterranean regions while at the same time it enforces a cross-border cooperation amongst the Mediterranean countries. In this respect, BERLIN participated at ENLIT Europe, which took place in Frankfurt in November 2022, as a good example of a regional innovative project. The presentation was given by Dr. Venizelos Efthymiou of the University of Cyprus - FOSS Research Centre for Sustainable Energy, which is coordinating the project.

Enlit is an inclusive and end-to-end forum that addresses every aspect of the energy agenda. In 2022, the workshop on European Union Projects Zone focused on the topics of Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands, Digitalisation, and Renewable Energy Sources (especially Wind and Solar). The main audience consisted of Project coordinators, representatives from the European Commission and relevant associations.
