Mediterranean Organic Agriculture: Executive Agreement
In the framework of ENI CBC MED Organic Ecosystem Project: “Boosting cross border Organic Ecosystem through enhancing agro-food alliances”, the main objective of WP3 is to establish a Cross-Border Organic Agro-Food Open Ecosystem (hereinafter called Ecosystem).
The Ecosystem is an open network where complex interactions among different players with complementary backgrounds are produced. It is established on a well-structured national and cross-border alliance, through a concrete collaborative approach and a synergistic effect. The Ecosystem aims at increasing cooperation and dialogue among private and public actors of the organic sector stimulating dynamic discussion and participatory exchange of experiences, problems, needs and possible sustainable solutions to scale up the Med organic sector and improve its competitiveness as well as to promote economic growth in Partner countries and in the Region.
This ExecutiveAgreement, signed by Organic Ecosystem beneficiaries (Partners, Associated Partners, MSMEs, actors of organic and innovation chain) aims to give an overview of general objectives, principles and conditions under which the partners of the Ecosystem intend to develop capacity-building activities, knowledge sharing and cooperation, aimed at strengthening organic MSMEs in the Partner Countries supported by Competent Authorities (CAs, members of the Mediterranean Organic Agriculture Network-MOAN).
Apart from the project partners, 285 stakeholders signed this agreement.
Organic agriculture operators from the Mediterranean: BOOKLET OF CONTACTS
The ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM project has brought together a consortium of operators and public-private partners from Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, and Greece, aiming to drive business alliances in the field of organic agriculture.
In an effort to foster collaboration and promote top-quality organic products, we have compiled a comprehensive booklet of contact information for all the SMEs and partners involved in the project.
This valuable resource includes contact details for 35 operators and public-private partners who have been actively working with ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM. By creating a network of like-minded organizations, the project sought to facilitate cooperation and knowledge exchange among participants.
For individuals or businesses in search of potential business partners offering top-quality organic products, this document will prove to be a useful tool. It provides a wide range of options from a diverse array of SMEs and operators across Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, and Greece.
We are proud to state that this network of Mediterranean SMEs is committed to the principles of organic agriculture and has a demonstrated track record of excellence in their respective fields.
To offer a glimpse into the potential of ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM's network, here are a few examples of the participating SMEs. In Jordan, we came across the first organic producer of poultry products in the MENA region, as well as a supplier of caffeine-free coffee made from date seeds. Lebanon boasts the largest carob bean farm in the Mediterranean and is one of the vast network of farms and biggest distributors of organic products in the MENA and GCC regions. In Greece, we discovered exceptional extra virgin olive oil derived from ancient Mediterranean olive trees, in addition to a company specialising in high phenolic olive oil. Lastly, Italy presented gourmet organic almonds.
In addition to the SMEs, the consortium involved in the ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM project included several esteemed partners. These partners played a crucial role in facilitating collaboration and providing expertise.
The consortium was composed of the Ministry of Agriculture of Jordan, the Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables (JEPA), the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and the Bekaa, the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari, INNOPOLIS- Centre for Innovation and Culture, and the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME).

TECHLOG Collaborative Web-Platform
The TECHLOG collaborative platform is the technological tool that supports the activities of the two Living Labs promoted by TECHLOG and will represent the collaborative environment in which the beneficiaries of TECHLOG can cooperate to co-create, test and share new innovation initiatives and training programs based on advanced driving simulation technologies for port and transport staff. The platform is conceived to support the cooperation and exchange of information and good practices among the different innovation players operating in the port and road transport sectors of the Mediterranean area.
The TECHLOG platform provides a wealth of services and functionalities aimed at facilitating knowledge sharing and joint technological initiatives between the innovation players and users coming from both academia and transport/port industry and operating in the field of innovation and advanced simulation for transport and ports.
TECHLOG O.5.7 - Joint proposal for a new shared qualification standard
The need to define standards for advanced training and licensing and qualification certification in the (trans)port and logistics field was among the main objectives of the project.
In the context of the TECHLOG project, stakeholders from port and transport companies and institutions from all partner countries were invited to take part in a capacity-building path, through which they were to exchange views and knowledge to build, supportedby the project partners and two external experts, a joint proposal for a common qualification standard for port and transport workers.
To this end, two preparatory online meetings, one in-person workshop, and one final recapitulatory online session were held.
The target audience for participation in the consultancy included:
1. Public officials with an administrative background and expertise in standardization and safety, such as:
a) State control officials in the shipping sector.
b) Harbormasters, often tasked with overseeing port operations in various countries.
2. Personnel involved in port operations, including:
c) Labor inspectorate officials responsible for health and safety regulations.
d) Port Authority representatives.
3. Professionals in logistics and transportation, such as:
e) Road safety officials.
f) Health and safety experts.
The resulting joint qualification standard is contained in Deliverable O.5.7, and was presented at the TECHLOG Final Conference, which took place in Cagliari on December 1st, 2023.
TECHLOG - O.5.6 Video tutorials
The project developed and released 3 videos showing the opportunities and benefits related to the use of advanced simulators and related training programs in port and transport activities.
The video tutorials developed in the framework of the project offer several positive aspects for workers and businesses, contributing to effective learning, skill development, and overall productivity. Tutorials are made available:

TECHLOG - O.5.4 - Training Course for Innovation Trainers
This document proposes a Training Package and guidelines for Innovation Specialists and experts in the field of logistics and transport.
In the context of the TECHLOG (Technological Transfer for Logistics Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) project, a Training for Innovation Trainers (ToIT) has been designed and carried out in the Eastern (Livorno, Italy) and Western (Alexandria, Egypt) Mediterranean.
The objective of the actions was to provide representatives of EU-Mediterranean transport and port institutions or organizations with the tools necessary to become innovation trainers in the field of advanced simulation for port and transport activities.
That is, to train representatives of such institutions to be capable of promoting, leading, and accompanying innovation processes in their own local contexts; to be able to recognize the benefits of academia-industry cooperation for innovation in the sector; and to understand and explore the benefits and potential of simulation for training and innovation in the logistics and transport sector.
As such, it is not the objective of the TECHLOG Training of Innovation Trainers to present a comprehensive overview of new technologies or developments in the field in question, but rather to provide the tools and guidance for the exploration, design, development, and implementation of new, innovative solutions.
Therefore, the TECHLOG ToIT package places the focus on how to think about problems and their potential solutions rather than what to think and how specifically to solve them. This makes it a timeless and highly adaptable approach.
The participants/users of a ToIT are “building the plane while flying it”. They are learning by doing, meaning that they are trained on new concepts like open innovation (theory) and living labs (praxis) while at the same time building and actively participating in a living lab, sharing ideas, and coming up with innovations to test in the future.
In this sense the generic ToIT package gains concretion by establishing more specific objectives and questions. During the ToIT sessions held by the TECHLOG project in Livorno and Alexandria, the training revolved around the main question of “how might we design and build an enabling environment (favorable context) to do technology
transfer for logistics innovation in Mediterranean (East / West) port areas?”. And, as a more specific sub-question, “how to design logistics and transport strategies and innovations using virtual simulation?”.
