U-SOLVE in Italy organises three focus groups to analyse critical issues related to sustainability in Palermo: urban green, waste and mobility

What must a city have to define itself as 'sustainable'? The ARCA consortium, lead partner of U-SOLVE project, asked this question to the most interesting actors in the city of Palermo to stimulate dialogue and bring out ideas and actions for a real transformation of the city's mobility, for innovation in waste management and for the enhancement of green infrastructures: these are the three most urgent issues that came out from the interviewees thanks to the "Entrepreneurial ecosystem survey" conducted in recent months and involving public administration, research institutes, universities, third sector organisations and many others. They all expressed their desires for change in the city, highlighting the most important challenges and priorities. A debate that now wants to go even deeper. In order to continue gathering suggestions, insights and analyses, the ARCA consortium is organising three meetings at Cre.Zi plus, at Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo.

The meetings, led by professionals from different sectors through the focus group method, will involve public bodies, university research, activists, NGOs and third sector representatives, as well as startuppers, entrepreneurs and creative people.

This is the thematic calendar

SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY | Tuesday 17 May from 17.00 to 19.30
WASTE MANAGEMENT | Wednesday 18 May from 17.00 to 19.30

An opportunity to analyse together the urban fabric, identify critical elements and opportunities for the real economic and social enhancement of the city in a sustainable way. The U-SOLVE project, which networks an international partnership led by the ARCA Consortium, aims to create experimental development paths through the promotion of entrepreneurial ideas capable of tackling the main environmental and social challenges, encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge open innovation methods and participatory processes in urban communities. We aim to strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems and contribute to the creation of new jobs in emerging social and environmental markets by supporting young creative entrepreneurs.
