Taoufik Abassi is a fisherman in Sidi Mechreg, the north-west of Bizerte, Tunisia. He started his career with fisheries in the 1990s. In 2021, Taoufik developed a new business.

RESTART MED! - a capitalization project, within the ENI CBC MED programme, on sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean, is launching a call for subgrants in order to engage and empower economic actors in the sustainable tourism sector. The goal of the subgrants is to create visibility initiatives aimed at promoting the attractiveness of existing sustainable tourism products and increasing the attention to sustainable tourist destinations in Tunisia.

The goal of the subgrants is to create visibility initiatives aimed at promoting the attractiveness of existing sustainable tourism products and increasing the attention to sustainable tourist destinations in Lebanon.

In Spain, the RESTART MED project! launches a call for grants for companies who want to promote existing sustainable tourism products. The aim of this call is to provide financial support to visibility initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism products and/or services such as promotional videos, advertising campaigns or information points.

To be considered winning proposals, the initiatives must promote at least 2 of the 3 aspects of sustainability: environmental, socio-cultural and/or socio-economic.

This year, the RESTART MED! project will celebrate World Tourism Day on 27 September 2022 with a summit organized by project lead CISP and that is taking place in Palermo, Italy, as well as online, livestreamed. As per the United Nations, this year’s “World Tourism Day will be celebrated as the shift towards tourism is being recognized as a crucial pillar for development and as progress is well underway”.

Young entrepreneurs and investors will join a networking event to be held in Tunisia.
