Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth, and expand human welfare.

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egyptian partner of U-SOLVE, announced that five teams won the U-SOLVE project subgrant after overcoming a strong competition to present their innovative projects in the areas of urban development to serve the goals of sustainable development in Alexandria Governorate and neighboring governorates.

In the run-up to the final event, the INVESTMED project is pleased to publish the final 5 policy papers relating to key policy recommendations on developing an enabling environment for MSMEs working in the green, blue, and CCI industries in the Southern Mediterranean. 5 infographics will also be made available to compliment the findings of each paper.

Credit guarantee schemes have emerged as a key tool utilised by governments and development institutions to overcome challenges faced by MSMEs in accessing credit including; high cost, limited supply, and collateral requirements. Thus, making MSME financing more available and affordable. Little is known about their existence among MSMEs in the region.

The workshop introduced credit guarantee schemes to the INVESTMED beneficiaries and brought together 4 experts from the region:

Sustainable entrepreneurship is a key driver for economic growth and prosperity in the MENA region. Coupled with the ongoing intersecting crises such as climate change, youth unemployment, pollution etc., businesses in the green, blue, and cultural and creative industries have the potential to be a catalyst for change.

On the 10th May 2023, the INVESTMED project held the first workshop in its series on access to finance for MSMEs and entrepreneurs in Egypt, Lebanon, and Tunisia. This first workshop introduced Crowdfunding as a Source of Finance.

Here is the complete path of the ENI CBC Med Programme, STAND UP! project. From the claim of its objectives and the many activities and opportunities delivered to sustainable start-ups in the textile and fashion sector, to the results achieved, the goals focused on, the circular methodologies developed and applied, and the numerous young entrepreneurs involved in the 5 partner territories of the Med area from 2020.

Five years after the launch of the U-SOLVE project, an online final conference is set to mark its culmination before its completion. The project, funded by the EU through the ENI CBC Med Programme, aimed to create a model for sustainable urban development by fostering innovative entrepreneurship and addressing sustainable development challenges.
