MEDISS making progress on the water desalination pilot plant installation in the area of Wadi Araba, Jordan
In September 2021, Aqaba Water Company, MEDISS Jordanian partner, through its contractor, proceeded in the installation of a new component in the Al Risha Desalination Plant.
The new plant component consists of long-lasting reverse osmosis membranes that produce desalinated brackish water that will be used in irrigation and domestic use in the arid area of Wadi Araba, south of Jordan.

DECOST: training lectures in Jordan schools about waste management and composting
During the first weeks of October, the DECOST team in Jordan have visited the Sama Male School and the Sama Female School, both included in the area in which the DECOST pilot is being implemented. For this reason, some composting units were earlier installed in the facilities of these educational centres. The DECOST team was represented by Dr. Munir Rusan from JUST University, Eng. Sora Alrousan and Eng. Mohammad Ziad Alrousan from AL-Sarow Municipality and Eng. Rabiah Omari from IAD.
STAND Up! - La Boutique Sociale, a solution reusing materials and upcycling second-hand clothing
La Boutique Sociale is designing a solution to be able to shift from a traditional linear economy through keeping resources in use for as long as possible, recover and reuse materials by collecting and upcycling secondhand clothing as well as recycling fabrics in Lebanon.
STAND Up! has selected 4 circular fashion start-ups in Lebanon to scale and move to the incubation phase, among which La Boutique has been selected. The chosen start-ups will receive additional business and financial support to become more competitive and seize business opportunities in the Mediterranean.
STAND Up! - Lebamoz, a fashion start-up producing natural fibers from banana pseudostems
Lebamoz produces natural fibers and fabrics from banana pseudostems with a very low carbon footprint. Partnering with Lebanese banana farmers and loom operators to collect and process banana fibers, these will be spun into yarn and then either sold as they are or woven into fabric.
