MENAWARA supports rural communities of Palestine in the challenge of water resources efficiency

The complex political situation in Palestine makes the challenge of water resource efficiency particularly important.

MENAWARA project aims to improve the quality of treated wastewater and increase its use in agriculture thus reducing the pressure on fresh water, increasing income of rural communities in Palestine making them more prosperous and less vulnerable.

Part of MED-InA’s ambition is to include the private sector and its creative potential in the Zero Waste efforts of its 3 pilot cities, among which the Greater Irbid Municipality in Jordan. Municipalities of Sakiet Ezzit and Sfax in Tunisia started to organise an event to promote the reuse of school supplies with the help of civil society and NGOs. Thanks to that activity 10 tons of papers were collected and sold to get funds for schools repair in 2019 last edition. And, the paper recycled had had a certain environmental impact, allowing to save about 170 trees.
