Egypt has been facing a severe power crisis in the past years. The power sector is mostly dependent on fuel, which is a primary source of energy, and the production of energy fails to meet the rising demand. Promoting energy efficiency could partially represent a solution to the energy problem in Egypt.

People engage in slow trips to seek novelty experience through new temporalities, new places, and new people that offer them sensations of thrills, adventures, and emotional stimulation. Slow Travel should include essential principles for transportation that seek to protect the environment and to promote relatively slow types of travel, such as exploring the local culture, history and community.

The 2^nd Intelligent Utilization of Photovoltaic Technology Hub meeting took place online on the 14^th of February 2022. The meeting was a continuation of the previous meeting, which was held last year, with the aim to investigate the integration of photovoltaics (PV), energy storage systems (ESS), and demand side management (DSM), under the concept of a hybrid nanogrid system.

The Go Slow Award was born in Venice in 2006 by the will of Mediterranean Pearls APS Italy and was the first and today the only award in Italy, to be able to monitor soft mobility in the national Mediterranean Pearls. It is an award that welcomes the best project proposals from regions, cities of vast areas and municipalities on urban regeneration in favor of sustainable mobility and was created to encourage public administrations to devise proposals for circular economy and zero pollution projects in the slow tourist destinations of the Mediterranean.

The SME4SMARTCITIES project launched between October and November 2021 a Call for Proposals that aims to support SMEs in developing innovative and technological solutions to major urban challenges in the Mediterranean region.

The French GREENinMED partner Capenergies launched a 3rd call for applications to receive an Innovation Voucher, open until February 28th, 2022. 

One of the objectives of the GREENinMED project is to reduce water and energy consumption by 10% in the hotel industry through the development of new products and services.

Ms Fatma Dridi conducted pilot experiments to adapt AQUACYCLE’s eco-innovative wastewater treatment system to Tunisia’s context. For this purpose, she used the actual wastewater collected at the Bent Saidane wastewater treatment facility.

The Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) launches an invitation for expression of interest and submission of offers for printing services in the context of extroversion actions of the AQUACYCLE project.

On 15th February 2022, SEACAP 4 SDG project participated to the event “Mediterranean territories facing the challenges of climate change and ecological transition –  Dialogue between elected representatives from both shores ”, organized by ENI CBC Med Programme in partnership with the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region - National Programme Authority for France - and the EuroMed Cities Network.
