INVESTMED Closing Conference Summary Video

On the 30th November 2023, INVESTMED held its final closing event in Tunisia, presenting project achievements and highlighting the impact made by the project from 2020 until 2023. The 8 project partners, BUSINESSMED, EMEA, IEMED, Beyond Group, CEEBA, LUMSA University, iED, and the Spanish Chambers of Commerce were all present at the event, as well as the INVESTMED subgrantees, several trainees that took part in the capacity building activities, and members of the press from Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Europe.

Meet Hoda, Quality Manager at Merit Aromatherapy, a start-up in Egypt selling natural cosmetics.

They now have over 2,000 clients after the financial and technical support from the INVESTMED project.

PPI4MED’S training programme on Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) was designed in two phases: training of trainers, and national capacitation programme. This second phase had a general module, and one specific module, which was different for the two types of students: public officers and entities, which are the ones that have the capacity for buying innovation; and researchers, private companies and research property owners, in summary the sellers of innovation.

Plastic Busters CAP project took part at the United Nations Climate Change Conference ‘COP28’  in Dubai, United Arab Emirates with a side event "The Mediterranean leading the way for a cleaner sea: our biggest ally in the fight against climate change", organized on 5 December at Mediterranean Coalition Office – Blue Zone.

Plastic Busters CAP project concluded its ambitious mission to address marine litter by successfully organizing a final hybrid conference on 8th November in Aqaba Jordan (Intercontinental Hotel) and in University of Siena – Italy.

In the framework of GreenBuilding project, the Tunisian partner, the Management Company of Borj-Cedria Techno Park, decided to create synergy with another EU-funded project called Efficient Buildings and launched in Tunisia the green building cluster in November 2022.

On Monday 11th December 2023, the INVESTMED Project held the final Advocacy Session focusing on Building an Enabling Environment for Entrepreneurs in the Southern Mediterranean.

INVESTMED features in the latest edition of Managers magazine. The 20 page article gives an overview of the importance of the INVESTMED project in the region and how it has made an impact. 

Prof. Rym Ayadi, President and Founder of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association, project partner of INVESTMED, gave her view on the philosophy of projects such as INVESTMED, how exactly the project has contributed to sustainability, the challenges that have been found in the implementation of the project, and what would be needed in future projects. 

On the 30th November 2023, INVESTMED held the final press conference, summarising the project's activities and impact since its beginning in 2020. The press conference was organised by the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) in collaboration with INVESTMED media partner, Managers, within the framework of the INVESTMED closing event. Over 10 media outlets were present at the conference with members from all 3 target countries, Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia. 

This session had the objective of presenting the main outcomes of the INVESTMED project related to building an enabling environment for green, blue, cultural, and creative MSMEs in Tunisia, Egypt, and Lebanon, based on policy papers developed by the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association. On the one hand, Mediterranean MSMEs face important challenges in terms of competitiveness, sustainability, internationalization and capacity to innovate which call for new solutions to ensure their growth and continued existence at the regional and national policy level.
