MEDWAYCAP has introduced the Non-Conventional Water - NCW Best Practices Inventory platform (bpinventory.com ), which is dedicated to showcasing and promoting best practices NCW resources management. The platform aims to address water challenges in the Mediterranean region by capitalizing on innovative solutions and effective practices.

Access to water and sanitation is a crucial United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG6) to be achieved by 2030, especially under the pressures of climate change. Despite this, NCW is often overlooked as a valuable resource. To combat this, the NCW inventory platform collects and analyzes data on NCW systems and best practices, considering factors such as performance, innovation, durability, socio-economic impact, and alignment with SDGs.

The platform serves as a resource for technicians, water utilities, decision makers, researchers, SMEs, authorities, and civil society, providing them with a space to explore adapted, innovative, and sustainable solutions. It is also connected to other platforms focused on non-conventional water reuse in agriculture and integrated development of non-conventional water resources, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration.

The focus is on extracting, sharing knowhow, social learning and building common knowledge at the Mediterranean level rather than creating a similar one. Currently, the NCW inventory platform is connected to two platforms created by other capitalised projects: MENAWARA and AQUACYCLE.

The user-friendly platform incorporates web business intelligence solutions, including data analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring up-to-date and valuable insights. Designed in the frame of MEDWAYCAP project, the platform offers a dynamic and mobile-friendly experience.

The NCW Best Practices Inventory platform signifies a significant step towards effective water resource management in the Mediterranean region and beyond. By promoting social learning, innovation, knowledge exchange, and collaboration, the platform contributes to a more sustainable and resilient water future.

Two major Mediterranean stakeholders, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and PRIMA, have already endorsed the value of the Platform for future development action.
