The World Wide Fund for Nature Tunisia, MEDUSA project’s partner in Tunisia, awarded DREAM Dealer event the MEDUSA Sub-Grant. Located in Medenine, in Tunisia, Dream Dealer organizes each year the Zammour Trekking event which promotes alternative, solidary and ecofriendly tourism. Zied Zammouri, organizer of Zammour Trekking, spoke details about DREAM Dealer and the plans for the future.

Q: How was your company established and how did it take root in Medenine?

Dream Dealer event was born upon the need for Alternative and Solidary tourism in the region of Zammour. Our services bring about many cultural and sportive activities any traveler would desire along with ecofriendly catering while conserving the local resources and the ecosystem. The activities proposed also take into consideration the ecological impact by promoting the least polluting activities. My dream is to see Zammour region as an attractive destination in Tunisia and hopefully in the Mediterranean. The 5^th edition of Zammour Trekking which was the latest, gathered people from many nationalities who enjoyed dishes from organic farming. It is worth noting that, most of the food served at breakfast and dinner time was prepared by the women of the region.

Today, the festival is considered to be modernized and digitalized since it combines the modernity of the technical tools (sound, light, stage management, logistics), with the cultural tradition of indigenous people of Zammour. This event is, indeed, a meeting place for trekkers, trail runners, hikers and artists from many regions, to experience four once in a lifetime days alternating between sport, culture and adventure and alternative tourism. We offer many sports and outdoor activities, such as mountain VTTs, itinerary circuits, trek, yoga, mountain biking, 18KM VTT, treasure hunt, Zipline, Donkey rides, music shows, traditional wedding, traditional reception (jannada / locals / local folklore), local gastronomy and a fair for local artisans.

Q: How does your project relate to the MEDUSA call and what are the objectives set in your application?

From each edition we learn many lessons to enhance our touristic services and products; each year is a challenge as well as a great success.

With DREAM Dealer event initiative, we want to contribute to the promotion of alternative touristic practices and enhance local social and cultural services in the village of Zammour and the surrounding area of Daher in Tunisia.

We also want to empower the hosting and service competences and capacities of the local families and individuals. In addition, we wish to create and promote a touristic cycling itinerary path in the mountains of the village in alignment with Medusa Project call implemented by WWF in Tunisia. Finally, we want to improve the products we have and diversify the activities that we offer.

What matters most is the sustainability plan because our final outcome is to promote the region of Zammour in Medenine.
