MEDUSA: Get to know more about Adventure Tourism applicants in Jordan

This article forms part of a series of publications under MEDUSA project’s “Mediterranean sub-grant Adventure Tourism Competition” which aims at catalyzing the creation of new innovative adventure tourism products and experiences and upgrading existing products in our partner territories Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Puglia (Italy) and Catalonia (Spain).

Jordan has achieved many accomplishments in the field of adventure tourism and eco-tourism, in addition to cultural and community-based tourism where you can integrate with. Having said that, and in the scope of the MEDUSA Sub-Grant competition in Jordan, here are two interesting Adventure Tourism applicants you may have not heard of before. Get to know them more.

Laith AbuElsamen is a partner in Beit Aziz Hotel and has been working in the field of Adventure Tourism Development with Local community for more than 10 years. He developed his skills to work in adventure tourism, by working in different projects with local and national organizations in eco-tourism and responsible tourism. AbuElsamen believes that countries working in the Mediterranean area have a very good experience from which everyone can learn and benefit from to reach worldwide standards, “we, the local community have an amazing and successful experience, which we can share.”

In addition, MEDUSA project partners, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature- RSCN, and the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association- JITOA, worked with the applicants and helped them overcome obstacles in order to reach their objectives.

On the other hand, Thair Ayyash, CEO of the Jordan Ranger Adventure and Challenge Forest Camp has been working in the field of Adventure tourism for more than 20 years. Ayyash is convinced that “adventure tourism is the world’s leading tourism and is very promising in Jordan as it has a very important future.” He developed his skills to work in adventure tourism through gaining world experiences and exploring new areas in Jordan to serve the adventure tourism in the country. Also, he noted that the MEDUSA project comes in the exact and right time to help in developing the adventure tourism in Jordan while organizations are working to promote to those who are interested in adventure tourism activities in Jordan, this is a really great opportunity to join the project in order to meet the world’s tourist requirements.
