MedBEESinessHubs team in Cyprus welcomes the New Year 2023 with a series of 8 workshops

The MedBEESinessHubs project team in Cyprus is welcoming the New Year 2023 with a series of eight workshops under the title "Beekeeping  practices and techniques for processing bee products" addressed to  existing beekeepers and processors of beekeeping products, as well as people interested in the field of Apiculture in general.

The workshop modules have been designed based on the findings derived through a recent study of the current situation in the beekeeping sector of Cyprus implemented by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In the framework of the study, a field survey was carried out with the participation of beekeepers and other professionals involved in the processing of honeybee products. Among other things, the research has demonstrated the educational needs of micro-enterprises in the sector both in matters of entrepreneurship and technical training subjects.

This series of workshops capitalises also on previous work undertaken in the framework of the InnovAgroWoMed project - Social - Innovation in the Agri-food sector for Women’s Empowerment in the Mediterranean Sea basin (funded by the program ENI CBCMED 2014-2020). Specifically, the output on ‘Women’s cooperation and cluster growth’ has been incorporated as a specific module of the training material, aiming to prepare the participating women in sustainable cooperation establishments.

Workshops are open to all interested parties, while they will be organised in Greek. They are divided into two cycles:

  • Cycle 1: "Healing properties of bee products and processing into cosmetics and unique handmade gifts" will take place on January 9 and 10, 2023 in physical presence in Limassol;
  • Cycle 2: "Environmentally friendly Beekeeping practices" will be held in physical presence on 19, 20, 26 and 27 January 2023 at the Skarinou Environmental Centre, and on 8-9 February 2023 online.
