MED4EBM in Jordan assesses stakeholders´ needs on coastal and marine ecosystem management

The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS), partner of MED4EBM project, conducted a two-day training workshop " Synergy and Stakeholders Consultation for Identification of Priority Training Needs in the Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Resources". The workshop established  synergy and linkages between projects and the competent management bodies in the field of coastal and marine ecosystem resources management in Aqaba, Jordan; and identified potential collaboration and coordinated delivery of training and capacity building. This is to be based on the different projects’ specific objectives and identified training needs through stakeholders’ consultation. Furthermore it enhanced the training package quality and quantity as delivered through multiple projects and foster its sustainability through nesting it at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and other competent management entities to continue as a common management practice.  

Participants in the workshop spanned a wide spectrum of coastal and marine resources actors including government authorities, surveillance and security, scientific, industry, ports and shipping, tourism, NGOs and local occupations in fishing, diving and glass boats services.
