MED-InA: Pushing for Zero Waste in the Mediterranean

Have you ever heard of “Zero Waste”? What if, instead of dealing with more and more waste, we changed approaches and tried to reduce waste and consider it as a resource? The MED-InA project partners went to Milan and Parma in Italy, to discover inspiring practices they could possibly replicate in their own cities.

Milan and Parma have succeeded in significantly reducing waste production per capita. How? By combining citizen education with adapted sorting equipment and smart collection schedules; and investing in composting facilities and treatment and recycling plants.
It does take a change of mindset and organization, but that is precisely why it is never too early to start, even with small steps !
So, will you be the next Zero Waste pioneer municipality ?
