Lebanon: YEP MED trains 30 students in port logistics during the first occupational training course in the region

Within the series of trainings that form part of the EU funded YEP MED project, an introductory occupational training course focusing on the blue sector took place in Beirut between the 21st and 24th September 2021. 30 young men and women from various Lebanese regions and diverse educational backgrounds participated in the port logistics training programme. The objective of the course was to offer training in port management, customs organisation, shipping lines; as well as to raise young people’s interest in these activities and to shed lights on the logistics sector and its various opportunities.  

This five-days long training programme included the following lectures: Maritime Sector & Ports; Customs Services & Organisation; Shipping Lines & Freight Forwarders and Supply Chain Management. The seminars provided the trainees with hands-on experiences of logistics operations in ports with a participatory interactive approach. The YEP MED project is planning to dig deeper into the smart port logistics sector through the next training programme, which is scheduled for the last week of October 2021. This training will familiarise trainees with a logistics simulation application on Enterprise Resource Plannning that has been designed to mimick real-life transport operations.
