FruitFlyNet-ii presents the experimental station of Taous in Tunisia for implementing its e-solutions

The Olive Tree Institute in Tunisia, partner of FruitFlyNet-ii project, aims to ensure the installation of some traps (Mac Phail) in the olive tree field based in the experimental station of Taous for detecting the presence of the pest Bactrocera oleae in the region of Sfax and implementing its new e-solutions.

The experimental station Taous (126 ha), acquired by the Olive Tree Institute in December 1995, consisted of:

-12 ha of Pistachio tree field (1ha irrigated land / 11ha rainfed land)

-7.5 ha of Almond tree field (3.5ha irrigated land/ 4ha rainfed land)

-105 ha of Olive tree field (12ha irrigated land/ 93 ha rainfed land). Its facilities including station houses, an oil mill containing a rolling stock and some agricultural material like tractors, a stripping and washing machine, a mashing machine, an oil filtration machine, etc.
