March 2, Phase 1: first Tunisian infected. Arrived on February 27 aboard a ship from Italy. Persons accompanying the patient, 254, his family, self-quarantined, under medical supervision, daily follow-up. National Standing Committee to Monitor Spread of Virus, evaluate evolution of virus throughout countries; ready to adjust its strategy. Suspension of flights, closure of air and sea borders, ban on rallies, closure of schools... 

March 13, Phase 2: 16 confirmed cases, half of them imported cases. 

Preventive measures related to phase 3. 

March 18: first case of death woman aged 72 came from Turkey. 

March 20, phase 3: confirmed cases didn’t exceed 60. Curfew, total containment. Tunisians were called for the need to respect self- containment and hygiene rules. Go out for basic necessities: food, healthcare. Average age of infected persons was 45 years (3 months - 85 years). 

March 23: 89 infected, including 3 deaths and one cure. 

Horizontal infection. 

March 25: 59 new confirmed cases raising the number to 173 infected.

Tunis recorded highest number of infected people. In the southern Island, Djerba, declared endemic. 

Tunisian Health system already in difficulties lack of resources is affected. Serious consequences on the vulnerable categories Older people and chronic diseases. 

March 21; Social & Economic measures settled: 

• Preserve jobs, guarantee salaries employees, workers and civil servants: 

- 300 million dinars of aid: employees on technical unemployment, 

- 150 million dinars of bonuses: vulnerable social classes.... 

• Strengthen strategic reserve: 500 million dinars for drugs, food products. 

In coordination Ministries of Interior, Health and Social Affairs: accommodated homeless people in centers. Ministry of Women, children, Seniors sets up toll-free numbers to ensure psychological care, provide aid to low-income families, elderly, women victims of violence and children. Suspension of activities in the centers of the elderly public and private sector, prohibition of visits, measures relating to the cleaning and disinfection. ONGs distribute disinfection products and meals.
