NAWAMED Sicily: Technical Training and Policy Workshop on non-conventional water management

SVI.MED. Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Sustainable Development and Iridra, partners in the Nawamed project, are organising two Workshops: the first will be held on 12 and 13 April and will be a technical training on “Eco-sustainable solutions for urban water management”. The workshop is mainly targeting professionals involved in building and urban design and focuses on new approaches and innovative solutions in water management. The training event refers not only to non-conventional water resources and the technical solutions used in the NAWAMED project (natural solutions for the treatment and reuse of grey water), but broadens the scope to encompass sustainable urban water management more generally, providing guidance on rainwater management and recovery, sustainable urban drainage, and consumption reduction and optimisation.

The second meeting will be held on 14 April, it will be a policy workshop on “Standards, tools and solutions for sustainable urban water management”. During the meeting, the document produced and validated during the Fourth Water Table will be presented. Professional institutions, municipalities and school directors will be invited to participate in the ensuing debate.

The three days of workshop are organised in synergy with Network of Technical Professions of Syracuse and finally with CERSU, the Regional Centre for Urban Studies of Sicily, the Municipalities of Syracuse and Ferla (SR).

A technical visit will be developed in Ferla, to visit the NAWAMED pilot plant, the 13th of April.
