MedTOWN shares its experiences on social and solidarity economy with citizens and public authorities

From 29/11 to 1/12 MedTOWN project hosted an International Exchange event for professionals coming from the sector of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) from Palestine, Tunisia, Jordan, Greece, Portugal and Spain.

The International Exchange Event was combined with the Training of Trainers with representatives from municipalities and different international organisations. There were conferences, presentations and networking sessions to foster the sharing of best practices and learnings from such a diverse array of experiences.

Project coordinators, local government actors and beneficiaries from all visiting countries got a chance to visit many local projects and get inspired by success stories as well as reflect on the challenges involved in setting up coordinated initiatives between different actors. Also, all visiting countries that came prepared a Virtual Visit Tour to show their local projects, so it was like visiting each country during the week! This also sparked a lot of conversations and stories about inspiring citizens and politicians across the Mediterranean.

At policy level, participants get inspired and left with more means of policy advocacy for the promotion of the SSE in their territories thanks to the online webinar on external dimension of the Social Economy Action Plan to the Mediterranean that was organised on the 29th of November 2022, with interventions from members of the Social Economy Group of the European Parliament, the United Nations Task Force on SSE, DG NEAR, the Organisation for Economi Cooperation and Development and the Global Forum of Social Economy.
