AL-Balqa Applied University (BAU), MED-QUAD partner from Jordan, participated in the exhibition of digital and physical games and applications, “Games Fair”, on 26 November 2022. The Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) exhibition, in cooperation with the Department of Public Antiquities in Umm Qais and Ajloun, implemented the event at the archaeological site. The event resulted from the synergy of  MED GAIMS and RESTART MED projects with which MED-QUAD joined forces.

Many people from the fields of education, entrepreneurship and society attended the exhibition. During the event, a detailed explanation of the games developed by JUST team was given, which excited the audience. Prof. Rebhi Damseh, the local manager of MED-QUAD and the research team of BAU, grabbed the attention of the public during the exhibition by describing the operation of the Applied Research for Cultural Heritage Exploitation - ARCHEO Living Lab. In an open space, by utilizing modern technological means and tools, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know, through the virtual tour, valuable points of cultural interest. MED-QUAD and the other two projects seek to provide community service. They aim to develop valuable products and services to enrich tourism activities at the archaeological sites in the Irbid region. In addition, through transnational cooperation, the projects' results will also impact the development of Mediterranean countries. The three ENI CBC MED projects collaborate to contribute to research, innovation and local, sustainable development by leveraging digitization.

MED GAIMS project developed games in physical and virtual format to create experiences for tourists, giving a necessary competitive edge to the attractiveness of less-known sites. The project seeks to increase tourism flows, covering all niches and segments like off-season travelers, creating jobs opportunities and start-ups for game entrepreneurs. RESTART MED works for a sustainable tourism product or service which in its production, operation, and/or delivery is considerate to at least two of the following sustainability pillars: socio-economic sustainability, cultural sustainability, and environmental sustainability. MED-QUAD's living lab for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage will make the most of the results of the collaborating projects to activate the role of the university and scientific research in serving the civil society in the field of tourism and heritage.
