This article forms part of a series of publications under SIRCLES project to support circular economy opportunities for employment and social inclusion in our partner territories in Palestine, Lebanon, Spain, Tunisia, Italy, Greece, and Jordan.

The pilot composting unit in Korthi in the island of Andros, which is being implemented by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Organization Earth in collaboration with the Municipality of Andros, is almost ready and will start operating on December 1^st 2022. At first, the facility will treat the bio-waste collected from restaurants, cafés, super markets and bakeries and then will start incorporating households as well. Collection bins with keys and information will be distributed in order to ensure the collection of high quality bio-waste.

The NTUA team visited the stakeholders, trained them and gave them leaflets regarding what should and should not be disposed in the collection bins which will be placed near their shops. The team also informed them that the collection of biowaste will start on 29th November 2022.

Professor Gerasimos Lyberatos, Konstantina Papadopoulou and George Lytras visited Korthi for a final inspection accompanied by the Mayor and other local actors of the Municipality of Andros.
