MED-QUAD in Egypt presents the role of the Civic University to work for innovation and society

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), partner of MED-QUAD, together with the Epimorfotiki Kilkis sm LLC (Lead beneficiary from Greece), organizes an International Seminar titled: Methods for shaping the “Civic University”, designing its role, tasks, and responsibilities within the Quadruple Helix model for innovation in Mediterranean". The seminar will take place during 1st to 2nd November 2022, 12:00 – 20:00 Egypt local time, in Alexandria, Egypt.

The seminar is an opportunity for open dialogue and cross-border exchange about the civic university activities.

The aim of the thematic seminar is the analysis and planning of the role, tasks and responsibilities of the Civic University in the frame of the Quadruple Helix model for innovation based on study cases from partner universities. Thus, the essential role will be presented and analysed from the perspective of the partner universities. The purpose of the seminar is to inform and give the opportunity to the participants (teachers, students, university authorities, municipalities, SMEs, start-ups, citizens) to interact during the seminar and exchange views on how the role of the civic university is formed in the Mediterranean.

The workshop’s main aspects that will be highlighted and discussed are:

• Overview on the current cross-border cooperation and know-how transfer operation emphasizing the "Civic Universities” role in Mediterranean region.
• Prospects for cross-border cooperation on how Civic University operation can be adapted to the local cultural, scientific, technological reality through analysing local study cases, which allows for aligning with main objectives.

In the MED-QUAD project, in addition to the seven core partners, which consist of the coordinating partner Epimorfotiki Kilkis sm llc (Greece) and the academic institutions: International Hellenic University (Greece), University of L'Aquila (Italy), Al-Balqa 'Applied University - BAU (Jordan), Palestine Polytechnic University - PPU (Palestine), University of Sousse (Tunisia), Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport - AASTMT (Egypt), six associated partners from the participating countries will actively participate in a supporting role. Representatives of the partners will have the opportunity to attend in person the international seminar that will take place in Alexandria (Egypt); however, the local and abroad public can also participate online. 
Attendees from academia, industry, intellectuals, government local officials, developers, and postgraduate students from Mediterranean countries are invited to get to know MED-QUAD project and talk about the role of Civic University.
