EDAMA, SIRCLES project's partner in Jordan completed the second training on Biowaste Management in the period between July 5th and 7th 2022. 18 distinguished participants were chosen from the 38 participants of the first training, and they were trained on various aspects of soft skills, which included exercises on teamwork, self-marketing, self-confidence, presentation, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and sustaining motivation.

“The training course was enjoyable as it included practical exercises,” commented Bader Murad, who was especially glad to learn about decision-making intricacies. On the other hand, Asma' Fayoumi, a female participant and environmental engineer, noted that the training helped her develop skills that are important and relevant in the labor market these days.

NEETs (Not in Employment, Education, or Training), are the targeted group for the training. Out of the 18 participants, 11 were male and 7 were female; 7 participants did not hold higher education degrees (39%), while the rest held bachelor’s degrees. Only 1 participant in the training was employed (5%). Over 90% of the attendees expressed great satisfaction with both the training experience and outcomes.

The SIRCLES project is being implemented in Jordan by EDAMA, an energy, water, and environment business association, and is funded by a European Union grant of 3.8 million euros for a period of 30 months. In Jordan, the project aims to produce organic fertilizers through recycling of organic waste from hotels and various other institutions in the city of Aqaba.  SIRCLES is also being implemented by other partners in Mediterranean countries including Italy, Spain, Greece, Tunisia, and Palestine.
