The Jordan University of Science and Technology, partner of GreenBuilding project, organized a workshop on green energy: challenges and opportunities. The thematic workshop focused on technical aspects of energy efficiency in buildings, the use of renewable energy sources for the energy renovations of public buildings, and funding opportunities to ensure the know-how transfer between energy stakeholders.

The workshop took place in Irbid, Sidra Hotel, University Street, Jordan, on the 13^th of July 2022 and started at 10.30 a.m. local time. 

At the beginning of the workshop activities, Prof. Abdoul Rjoub from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, introduced the GreenBuilding Project. Eng. Mohammad Nashwan from the Nashwan Energy in Amman, Jordan, presented the environmental impact of Renewable Energy and Eng. Mahmoud Salameh from the Jordan Engineering Association presented the Regulation, Policy, and Coding in Jordan. Dr. Esmat Karadsheh, ENI, CBC Med Office, Jordan, informed the participants about how to get benefit from European projects. Eng. Reem Hamad from the Philadelphia Corporation, Jordan presented the activities of the company which acts as a panel and steel mounting structure manufacturer to develop, design, construct, own, and operate utility-scale, commercial and industrial photovoltaic plants. Eng. Ehab AlKurdi made a presentation for the Irbeel Corporation, Jordan. 

This workshop was an opportunity to present the energy renovation procedures for buildings, the opportunities and restrictions when improving the energy performance of a building, and to raise awareness and inform participants about financing mechanisms, national and international, for energy efficiency projects in the buildings. After the presentation of the invited speakers, the three leaders of the energy refurbishments of the pilot public buildings presented the progress of the pilot activities. 

GreenBuilding project supports 3 cost-effective public buildings energy refurbishment in Greece, Tunisia and Jordan, respecting present uses/public needs, and monitor refurbishment effectiveness via energy measuring devices. Mrs. Kouta Marina presented the Greek pilot which is the Laconia Prefecture building, built in 2008 and the Jordan pilot was presented by Mrs. Jammal Reham is the main building of the Greater Irbid Municipality is almost thirty years old and located in the old city center. It has several floors housing most main municipal departments, crowded during working hours. The Tunisian pilot was presented by Mr. Mhamed Khalfa. The building houses the Institute Mohamed Kassab of Orthopedic Hospital. It was built in 1971 and consists of two floors.
