Within the framework of Medaweek 2022 in light of the International Exhibition of Logistics in Barcelona, a Lebanese business delegation from port and maritime industry was led by Mr. Rabih Sabra, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut & Mount Lebanon and representative of the TECHLOG project, to take part in the SIL high scale three days event. The SIL BARCELONA (Salón Internacional de la logística y de la Manutención de Barcelona), is a leading Logistics, Transport, Intra-logistics and Supply Chain Fair of Southern Europe, in its 22nd edition.

Mr. Rabih Sabra intervened as a guest speaker at the "14th Meda Ports & Shipping Summit," panel, where he discussed the ENI CBC MED initiatives related to port logistics and transportation, in which the Beirut Chamber is a vital partner and player. He specifically highlighted the EU-funded project TECHLOG, emphasising its critical role in facilitating the transfer of new innovation models and digital training tools that would assist Lebanese workers and operators in the port and transportation fields in practising their work in a smart, safe, and sustainable environment. He also tackled the position of the port of Beirut following the 2020 blast as well as its future prospects and particularly, the potential job opportunities that would be boosted upon the recent awarding of the giant "Compagnie Maritime d'Affrètement (CMA) and Compagnie Générale Maritime (CGM)" of the management and development of the container terminal facilities. This action is part of the national strategy for the development of logistics in Lebanon and its policy of international cooperation in transport.

The objective of this activity has been to allow Lebanese operators to strengthen their international network through participation in meetings, conferences and exhibition along with the largest international companies of logistics and transport.

Stay tuned for more upcoming events from the 6 participating countries where you can learn more about all of the great opportunities we have in store within the EU-funded TECHLOG project!
